Statement

My current body of work captures overlooked
everyday objects at rest.
Thru the play of light, shadow, and
reflection, much emerges that is otherwise hidden in the banality
of mundane surfaces. Each holds a hidden and unacknowledged emotional
power. They fill our lives yet we rarely examine who we really are
as consumers or acknowledge our debt to these objects for bringing
us lives of convenience.
Plywood
The plywood series began quite by accident: I was in the mood to
sketch on a big scale one evening but was too lazy to go to my truck
to get my newsprint. The large loosecharcoal sketches on scraps
of plywood quickly evolved into an ongoing series of paintings.
Painting on canvas now constrains me. As a result, I much prefer
the the freedom of skecthing and painting on plywood.
Cleaning Supplies
The monotype series, Cleaning Supplies I, was first begun in August
of 2006. They are printed on a Mailänder proofing press by
master printer Francesco X Siqueiros of El Nopal Press in Los Angeles,
California. Each session generates, on average, 2 unique monotypes
and 1 ghost from the original oil painting. The series is a continuing
work in progress.
